The Green House, Tettenhall

The Green House Tettenhall is the three storey building pictured on the right and still stands today in the centre of Tettenhall to the west of Wolverhampton.

This colour tinted photo I believe dates from about 1895. It was the birthplace of Molly Evans in 1890 and her brother Wilmot a year later. Although Henry Evans moved his family to The Lawn, Hagley in 1895 the property still appears in his will papers of 1923, when it was eventually sold to the sitting tenant. It is just a stone throw from Tettenhall Church and the churchyard where many of the Evans ancestors are buried.

The House was constructed in 1794 and is now a listed building. More information about it and the historic centre of Tettenhall can be found on the local Wolverhampton History site.
