Frances Anne Dimmack

Frances Anne Dimmack was the only surviving child of Edward Bagnall Dimmack, a wealthy iron founder. She was born in Bilston in 1834 and baptised on 25 Jun 1837 at the Independent church in Oxford Street, Bilston.

On 10 Aug 1854, she married Henry John Marten an acquaintance of her father, who was eventually to become his full business partner.

Details of her wedding are recorded in an entry in the Wolverhampton Chronicle.  Self-evidently the couple travelled to France and Switzerland for their honeymoon.

Her married life was spent at the grand building of Penn Hall, where almost all her seven children were born.

Some time in early 1860 the family moved to Parkfield House, where her last two sons were born.

She died on 26 Mar 1862 in her father’s house at Penn Fields at the young age of 28, just twelve days after giving birth to her youngest child, Frank.

She was survived by both her father an her mother, Anne Dimmack.
